SPARTAN™ is a finished banknote produced by CCL Secure that provides a durable and cost-effective solution for the note/coin boundary.
Building on decades of innovation, experience and expertise, CCL Secure developed SPARTAN banknotes to provide a solution to the challenges central banks face when issuing low-value denominations that are subject to heavy use.
SPARTAN is engineered tough to withstand the wear and tear of everyday handling, and produced using an inline process that helps manage costs. This enables central banks to overcome the issues created by coins – including high production expenses, low public appeal, and involuntary hoarding.
Every aspect of a SPARTAN banknote is designed and optimised for the note/coin boundary. This starts with a proprietary film called Propanote™ Opacity W – which was developed specifically for SPARTAN by our sister company, Innovia Films. CCL Secure then produces the finished banknote in a single pass, including security features, serial numbers and tactility.
