GUARDIAN™ ENVIRO builds on CCL Secure’s proven track record of innovating to create more efficient processes that minimise waste, lower carbon emissions, and facilitate recycling at end-of-life. It retains all the benefits of a traditional GUARDIAN banknote, derived from three decades of research, development and distribution. The only difference between the two substrates relates to the sustainability characteristics of feedstocks embodied in the polymer film.
With GUARDIAN ENVIRO, central banks can choose to use bio-based feedstocks that gradually replace crude oil with greener alternatives accredited by the ISCC – a globally recognised framework for environmental reporting. This provides a tangible pathway to more sustainable banknotes, but requires no compromise on cash cycle performance. The technical specifications of the final product will remain the same.
